I’m turning 40 soon. You too?
I still catch myself talking about the 2000s like they were yesterday. In my mind, "millennial" still means early 30s, but wow, we age too.
Here we are, halfway through, digging through trauma, raising kids, using old-school emojis, still renting.
If you haven’t done a little life spring cleaning before hitting 40, here’s some common sense advice:
1. Sleep Smarter
7–8 hours is damage control. Aim for 10 PM. Your body will thank you.
2. Rethink Alcohol
Recovery takes longer. It wrecks your skin, sleep, patience, and stamina. Cut back, or better, quit. Best life hack.
3. Eat Like a Grown-Up
Would your grandma recognize this as food? Are you eating a reasonable amount? That’s the whole formula.
4. Supplement Wisely
Vitamin D, magnesium, omega-3. No need to overcomplicate it.
5. Move More, Perform Less
Walk. Take the stairs. Carry your own bags. Dig up the garden. Have some zoomies.
6. Skincare: Less, But Better
Clean, hydrate, protect. One morning serum, one at night, SPF always. Swap heavy foundation for tinted serums. Glow, rather than mask.
7. Silence the Inner Critic
Cynicism isn’t a flex. Gossip, envy, and negativity drain you. Let them go.
8. Bring Music Back
Vinyl, streaming, radio, doesn’t matter. Just press play.
9. Dress for Yourself
You survived ‘90s trends. You’ve earned the right to wear whatever feels good.
10. Date Like You Mean It
Single, married..doesn’t matter. Go on real dates. A dinner with real plates. A film, a walk, a bench in the park. It does wonders.
11. Get Help If You Need It
Aging parents, career stress, multitasking overload. Therapy = maintenance.
12. Find Something Bigger
Write the book. Volunteer. Teach. Help. Do work that matters beyond you.
13. Permission to Reinvent
Life runs in chapters. Change the job, the city, the haircut. Start fresh, whenever.
That’s it. Find your lane. Win your race. Onward.
