WAKE UP. ALCOHOL IS A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS.

People don’t realize how harmful alcohol is until they quit. And even then, it takes work. You have to detach. Disinfect the lies. Dig deep. Research. Understand.

wake up call, fist, manifesto

You can’t see its full impact until you’re sober, and even then, only if you’re willing to learn. There's a mental health toll. Physical damage. A ripple effect on relationships, work, identity. We’re often so wrapped up in our own trauma that we forget there’s always collateral damage. Sometimes one person. Sometimes many. Children, too.

Too many keep falling into the alcohol trap. Binge drinking is on the rise. Young people are derailing their development. Women are drowning in shame and regret, often made worse by drinking. Throat and breast cancer rates are climbing. Heart problems. Memory impairment. Liver disease. More people left disappointed. Stigmatized. Alone.

Something has to change. Culturally. Politically.

Alcohol won’t be banned; we’ve tried that before, and it didn't work. It wouldn't be ethical to take away the freedom to choose. But we can make sure people understand the risks. And even more, we can show them how good it feels to not drink.

In a world full of noise, where policy-makers are under unforeseen pressure and lobbyists are hungrier than ever, it’s on us. We’re the ones carrying this battle from the front lines.

So stand up. Take action. Do your part. Help someone with their drinking. Give someone hope. Show them it’s possible. Show them how.

I helped my partner quit. I’ve changed a few minds. I’ve made a few people pause and reconsider. Hell, I’ve started building a community.

I want to help. I have to help.

I’ll scream it if I have to.

It’s my duty. And it’s yours too.
